Chief Empowerment Officer, Global Brigades
Steve Atamian is the co-founder and Chief Empowerment Officer of Global Brigades. Since 2004, he has been responsible for developing and expanding the business model and growth strategy for the international association. Under his leadership, more than 40,000 university students and professionals have mobilized to support communities in Central America and Ghana; starting with just one student chapter in 2004.
In 2011, Steve co-founded Empowered.org, a “social movement platform” that has registered nearly 300 participating organizations across the world, fundraising more than $30 million dollars for their respective initiatives. The site is positioned to grow, combining a viral social networking environment with highly functional management tools for a diverse group of globally-minded organizations.
Steve graduated from the University of Southern California in 2004, where he earned a B.S. in Business Administration with an emphasis in Global Management, and a B.A. in International Relations.

Cole Hoover is a lecturer and the co-founder of the Social Enterprise leadership course at the University of Bothell. As a passionate social enterprise practitioner Cole pulls from his day to day experience in the field to infuse the course with a relevant perspective.
Cole is also a co-founder and board member of Lumana a microfinance and social investment organization working in rural Africa. In 2013 Cole was elected as a World Economic Forum “Global Shaper” for his work in global service.
In addition to teaching with UWB since 2012 Cole has guest lectured around the world on international development and social enterprise. When Cole isn’t traveling to West Africa or Central America for work he lives in Seattle where he works for Unleesh and enjoys all the awesome beauty the Northwest has to offer.
